Teasel Lopping

The teasel’s in bloom. Let’s lop and bag it before those strangely pretty flowers become the seeds of next year’s invasive weeds.

Teasel is a common riparian weed that crowds out native species for resources and we’ve been working with the City of Lafayette’s Open Space Department to make it a little bit less common along Coal Creek. This spring, we held three teasel tussels to clear away young plants and remove last year’s bloomers. Now it’s time to bag up this year’s flowers. It’s a disappearing act in two parts.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome, but kids won’t be allowed to actually lop.
