What to expect at our Happy Hour and Fundraiser
You’ve probably heard by now that we have a fundraiser coming up. It’s our very first one and so both very exciting and a little bit scary. I don’t know if you’ve been to a lot of these so I wanted to give you a feel for what it will be like.
No high pressure. We are a small, new nonprofit and we have two goals with this event: friend-raiser and fundraiser. We want to bring our community together and get to know more of you (that’s the friend-raiser part). Hopefully you’ll come, meet some good, like-mined people, hear about the work we’re doing and decide its worth of your financial support (the fundraiser part). It’s a relaxed good time for a good cause.
Not highly structured. No long, boring program. I’ll only speak for a little bit and our special guest, Lafayette Mayor JD Mangat will speak. Then we are back to the food and drinks from Falafayette provided by the generosity of our hosts Courtney and Mark Messenbaugh.
We will ask for money. Heck, hopefully after I’ve talked, you’ll want to give.
What’s this about $50,000? Through the immense generosity of an individual, we have a 1:1 match for every dollar raised up to $50,000. That means if you give $250, Friends of Coal Creek gets $500. About 90% of your donation goes directly to our programs to enhance habitat and restore nature right where we live.
How do you accept donations? With gratitude! We accept checks, cash and credit cards. Credit cards carry a small processing fee. If that’s a turn off, please bring a check.
All donations are tax-deductible? You bet. Receipts are automatic on donations over $250.
Can I come even if I’m not going to give? Of course! And we’d love for you to attend. We also are trying to raise money, though, so expect to be asked.
I can’t go. Can I make a donation now? Bummed you won’t be able to come, but glad for your support: www.coloradogives.org/story/Coalcreek50k
