Could You be our Next Artist-in-Residence?

Does your art help visualize, contextualize, interpret or improve the enjoyment of Coal Creek? Friends of Coal Creek is now accepting applications for our next Artist-in-Residence.

The residency will span from August 2026 to August 2028. Applications are due by Aug. 17, 2026.

About the residency

The residency spans two years and includes both regular contributions and capstone project of your design. Past projects have included gallery shows, workshops, publication, full-moon walks and more. We ask that the work enjoins our mission of helping people relate to the creek through their hearts, which we believe is key to understanding the creek and valuing its conservation.

The residency pays an honorarium over the course of the engagement.

How to apply

To apply, submit a few examples of your work (links are preferred), your social media profiles (if applicable), and a short artist’s statement (200 words max) about yourself, your skills and perspective, and why this residency is a good fit for you. Send application packet to casey@friendsofcoalcreek.org by August 17, 2026.

Selection criteria

A selection committee will select our new Artist in Residence based on strength of portfolio and sentiments in artist’s statement.
