Adopt a Pollinator Island

Can you care-take this little garden for the summer?

Do you have a little extra volunteer capacity this summer? We are seeking caretakers for our new pollinator islands in Lafayette to ensure safe passage through their first season.

All the islands are located a short walk from the Public Road trailhead in Lafayette and we’re asking volunteers to commit to visiting their island every week or two, depending on rainfall, throughout the summer. (If you can only sign up for a portion of the summer, that’s OK too!)

Activities would include:

  • Watering. New plants need about a gallon of water per week. We can source water from the creek and will give you a bucket.

  • Weeding. Invasive weeds are coming up all the time. We need to hold them back to give our little plants a chance to get established, especially before weeds go to seed.

If you have capacity for this, please reach out and we’ll get you set up with the info and tools you need. Thanks so much for helping see our little gardens through these first few difficult summers.
